Gecko feet inspire adhesive

An amazing new adhesive has been developed by UK resesarchers, inspired by the science behind a gecko’s feet. According to the developers, one square metre of the resuable polymer, named “Synthetic Gecko”, could hold the weight of the average family car.

Grass to scare off birds

New Zealand scientists are working on a type of grass which co-exists with certain fungi. The fungi, called endophytes, can repel insects or make birds and livestock ill. Strains are being developed which can keep insects and animals away, but which are not toxic.
